Ex-Samsung India head is Tata’s new head of car division

Mumbai, September 18, 2012: Tata Motors has appointed Ranjit Yadav as president of the company’s Passenger Car Business Unit (PCBU).

Mumbai, September 18, 2012: Tata Motors has appointed Ranjit Yadav as president of the company’s Passenger Car Business Unit (PCBU). The company has also appointed Neeraj Garg as vice-president – Commercial for PCBU and announced the movement of the incumbent vice-president – Commercial, PCBU, R Ramakrishnan, to a corresponding role for its Commercial Vehicles Business Unit (CVBU). Before joining Tata Motors, Yadav was Country Head (India) for the mobile and IT businesses of Samsung India Electronics. Garg joins the company from Volkswagen, where he was the director sales and marketing (Volkswagen brand). He also earlier worked with Nissan Motor India and Honda Cars India. Commenting on the appointments, Karl Slym, managing director, Tata Motors, said: “Ranjit Yadav’s experience of leading a highly customer-centric business will bring in the outside-in perspective that we need to further evolve our passenger vehicles business while Neeraj Garg brings in significant domain understanding of the Indian car space and its competitive dynamics. We are also happy to have Mr Ramakrishnan’s extensive commercial vehicles experience back for our CV business to retain our traditional market dominance.”
