March 8, 2013: The tool-down strike by employees of Mahindra & Mahindra’s Nashik plant which started on March 5, 2013 at 6:00pm as well as the proposed strike from March 11, 2013 has been called off. It is believed that around 3,000 workers were protesting against the suspension of a worker who allegedly stopped production for a few hours on March 3.
The Nashik plant, which manufactures the Scorpio, Xylo, Quanto and Bolero SUVs along with the Verito saloon, has a production capacity of 200,000 units per annum. The strike resulted in a production loss of over 500 vehicles which the company now expects to be made good.
