Yamaha launches new 125cc Nozza Grande hybrid scooter in Vietnam

Yamaha Motor Co has launched the 2019 model Nozza Grande 125cc premium scooter fitted with new features like a hybrid system in Vietnam. Yamaha has first introduced the hybrid system in a scooter in its Grand Filano Hybrid for the Thailand market in July 2018.

In the hybrid scooter, the starter generator functions as a motor in response to throttle operation for a maximum of three seconds on take-off from a stationary position, helping to assist the torque of the engine.

The new Nozza Grande, which is also equipped with ABS and a smart key system while inheriting the features and images of the current model, aims to offer increased running and comfort, refreshed appearance, and range of advanced equipment to further enhance its attractiveness and market appeal.

Other product highlights include a new Blue Core engine that produces smoother acceleration with low-vibration, achieving a more comfortable ride, a body design and chrome parts that render a high-class feel, and a colour TFT liquid-crystal meter.

Demand for scooters is fast growing in the Vietnamese market of 3.3 million two-wheelers annually. The scooter ratio is on a sharp turn upward as the market has matured in recent years and is now expected to reach nearly 50 percent. Among these, in 2014, the Nozza Grande – the first to have the Blue Core engine – has gained high popularity appealing mainly to young women as a premium class scooter due to its performance and functionality, along with its stylish European looks.

Will Yamaha introduce it in India?
Like the Vietnam and Indonesian markets, scooters are very popular in India and recent months have shown consumer preference for higher-powered 125cc premium scooters. TVS Motor Co with its NTorq, Honda with its Grazia, Suzuki 2Wheelers India with the Access and more recently Hero MotoCorp with its Destini 125 are all fighting for honours in the fast-growing 125cc scooter market in India. With Yamaha having launched  launching the 125cc Free Go and LEXi scooters in Indonesia and now the Nozza Grande in Vietnam, it is well primed to enter the booming segment in India with a new 125cc model, maybe even with a hybrid system. Over to you, Yamaha India.
