Volvo Cars posted a 15th consecutive month of retail sales growth in September, with China, Europe and the United States all recording a sales increase compared to September 2013.

Volvo Cars’ largest market China reported September sales of 7,342 cars, up 28.4 percent versus September last year. The XC60 crossover was the best-selling model followed closely by the S60L sedan.

In Sweden, Volvo Cars sold 4,987 cars, up 6.1 percent from the same month last year. Strong demand for Volvo’s XC and V carlines continued to support the positive sales performance in the company’s home market.

Volvo Cars says it continued its strong performance in Europe in September, where sales rose 11.6 per cent versus September last year. Several key markets, including the UK and Germany, showed solid multi-digit growth. The V40 remains the best-selling model in Europe, helped by its strong and class-leading Drive-E engines line-up.

The United States was Volvo Cars’ third-largest individual market in August, reporting an 11.4 per cent increase year-on-year to 4,667 retail sold cars. The S60 and XC60 models were the best-selling models during the month.

“I am pleased to see growth in all our major markets in September, which further supports the positive sales momentum we have seen this year,” says Alain Visser, senior vice-president, Marketing, Sales and Customer Service at Volvo Cars. “We remain solidly on track to realize an all-time high sales result in 2014.”
