Valeo launches global research centre for AI and deep learning

French supplier aims to host an open community network dedicated to the development of state-of-the-art automotive applications in artificial intelligence and deep learning.

Artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning, a term synonymous with the information technology sector, are expected to be the key drivers for challenges arising in the automated cars of tomorrow. Now, French supplier Valeo is looking to leverage its position in autonomous driving and its strong link with the scientific community with Valeo.ai.  

The new platform will integrate learning from high performing perception sensors for vehicle context understanding to advanced automated driving functions in complex environments, smart interactions with users and learning capabilities through connected cars.

Valeo.ai will host 100 specialists by the end of 2018 and will aim to open up a community network dedicated towards the development of state-of-the-art automotive applications in AI and deep learning. With the objective of connecting with the worldwide scientific community, Valeo.ai will be based in Paris, building strong links and partnerships with French and international scientific research centres.

The research centre will become a global competence center for algorithm, infrastructure, learning process, validation and simulation in artificial intelligence for automotive applications.
