Suzuki Motor Corp’s new compact crossover – Ignis – will make its European premiere next month at the 2016 Paris Motor Show. The Japanese carmaker will also display the SX4 S-Cross facelift as the main exhibit.

According to our sister publication Autocar UK, the European-spec Ignis will be longer than its Japanese counterpart, which adheres to Japan’s strict 3.6-metre guidelines. The UK car will be 10-15 cm longer, although the floorplan will be unchanged. Revised bumper designs will likely swallow up the added length.

The engine line-up for the Ignis is as yet unconfirmed, with the exception of the 1.2-litre Dualjet engine, as used in the Baleno and Swift. A hybrid Ignis is expected, but not confirmed; the SHVS (Smart Hybrid Vehicle by Suzuki) will be used if a hybrid powertrain does make it into the Ignis.

Also on display as a main exhibit is the SX4 S-Cross face-lift, with revamped front exterior design and further refined interior quality. The facelifted model now features 1.0-litre and 1.4-litre Boosterjet direct-injection turbo engines that replace the existing 1.6 petrol unit. The 1.6 DDiS engine continues to be available and the new S-Cross model range will be launched in the UK in mid-October.
