Sona Comstar wins American Axle’s global supplier excellence award

Indian automotive component suppliers continue to make their presence felt in the global market. The Gurugram-headquartered Sona BLW Precision Forgings (Sona Comstar), which has manufacturing and R&D facilities across India, Serbia, USA, Mexico, and China, is the latest to win a global supplier award.  The company has been named as one of the winners of American Axle & Manufacturing's (AAM) Supplier Excellence Awards.

AAM, the leading global Tier 1 automotive supplier of driveline and metal forming technologies that caters to electric, hybrid and internal combustion vehicles, is headquartered in Detroit and has over 80 facilities in 18 countries. AAM celebrated its 30th anniversary and named its top suppliers during a Supplier Day event earlier this month.

The annual event recognizes key suppliers with Supplier of the Year Awards and Supplier Excellence Awards across delivery, quality, launch performance, innovation and sustainability.

“For 30 years, our global customers have relied on AAM to design, engineer, validate and manufacture the driveline and metal forming technologies that power their vehicles, and our suppliers play a critical role in our success,” said David C. Dauch, AAM Chairman and Chief Executive Officer. “They are an integral part of our business and continue to demonstrate excellence in their operations and service. We appreciate all our suppliers and congratulate our Supplier of the Year and Supplier Excellence Award winners.”

This year, two suppliers received the top awards for overall performance. AAM’s 2024 Supplier of the Year Award for Direct Material was presented to Timken, a long-standing strategic partner which supports multiple AAM plants globally and a variety of high-volume product programs. Timken was recognized for its outstanding performance in quality and delivery, technical support on current and future production and overall partnership.

AAM’s 2024 Supplier of the Year Award for Indirect Material was presented to Motion, a leading distributor of maintenance, repair and operation replacement parts, and a premier provider of industrial technology solutions.
