Four years after its launch, the updated Skoda Karoq has been revealed by the Czech carmaker. In addition to more refined styling, the update brings sustainable materials, new technology and more efficient engines from the current EVO generation to the compact SUV. Surpassed only by the Octavia, the Kodiaq’s smaller brother was the second most delivered Skoda model worldwide in 2020, as well as in the first six months of 2021.

To ensure that this will remain the case, we have developed it further: now sporting a fresher design and optimised aerodynamics along with state-of-the-art assistance systems and infotainment features. I am confident that this overall package will enable us to continue the Karoq’s success story.”

Striking looks
The updated Karoq gets a wider wider, now hexagonal Skoda grille, slimmer headlights as well as tail-lights, and aerodynamically optimised alloy wheels with black plastic Aero trim. The new wheels, rear window finlets and a new rear spoiler all improve the car’s aerodynamics while lowering its CO₂ emissions.

The interior features new upholstery which, as an option, can be made from sustainable materials. New technology – such as full-LED Matrix headlights and an expanded range of assistance systems – also debuts in the range.

Five efficient engines from Volkswagen Group’s EVO generation round off the Karoq’s update. Two diesels and three petrol engines deliver power outputs ranging from 81 kW (110 PS) to 140 kW (190 PS). The 2.0 TSI producing 140 kW is reserved for the Karoq SportLine with all‑wheel drive. The 2.0 TDI with an output of 110 kW is available with front- or all-wheel drive.

Launched in 2017, the Karoq was the Czech car manufacturer’s second SUV. Offering generous amounts of space, a high level of practicality and excellent value for money, it delivers on the brand’s promise. The Karoq is produced in the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Russia and China, and available in 60 countries.

Will new Karoq come to India?
The pre-facelift Skoda Karoq was on sale in India till earlier this year. However, it was imported to our shores as a completely built unit (CBU) and was available in limited numbers under the 2,500-unit homologation rules. Having sold out the initial lot, Skoda then focused on the locally made Kushaq. On November 18, it revealed the the second India-focused model, the Slavia sedan.

That said, the facelifted model could definitely be on the cards for India sometime in the future. Skoda India had previously said that they will consider local assembly of the Karoq in India, and that would significantly bring down the prices and also increase its availability.
