Schuler has received a major order for new production from German luxury carmaker Mercedes-Benz. The company will supply two servo-press lines with a press force of 91,000 kN each and two servo presses incorporation to the Mercedes-Benz plants in Bremen and Sindelfingen.

At the press lines to body parts made of steel and aluminium blank forms, incorporation presses are used to optimise and maintain the need for tools. The commissioning of the plant is scheduled for end-2018.

The six-stage press lines of the latest generation of Schuler feature automatic quality inspection and finished part stacking system. "This ensures the reproducibility of high quality parts even at maximum stroke rate," said CEO Klaus Linnig, who is head of the Schuler Automotive Division. "The ServoDirect technology not only enables a high output, but also offers the flexibility to reshape both steel and aluminum reliably."

Since 2010, Daimler has now ordered six servo press lines from Schuler. The two newest plants are equipped with an intelligent DC power (Smart Grid DC), which significantly reduces the energy requirement.
