NISSAN STAR WARS CARS: Nissan had a range of Star Wars-themed cars and an X-Wing fighter on its LA show stand
POE DAMERON NISSAN ROGUE X-WING WITH BB-8: Yes, it's the US version of an X-Trail with X-Wing fighter wings and a robot sticking out the roof. It apparently features quad laser cannons, which doubtless make rush hour traffic far easier to deal with.
NISSAN ROGUE SPORT A-WING: A Nissan Qashqai with laser cannons and dual thrusters? Count us in. This A-Wing-themed design also features battle damage, which we presume is designed to represent a particularly hairy trip to a Waitrose car park
NISSAN ALTIMA SPECIAL FORCES TIE FIGHTER: Nissan's large American saloon is a lot more desirable when given some Star Wars sheen. The force is strong in this one, etc.
POE DAMERON NISSAN ROGUE X-WING WITH BB-8: We're not sure adding X-Wings to a Rogue/X-Trail is going to be ideal for British country lanes. The 'rugged tyre and wheel package' might prove more useful on a cold December morning in Yorkshire.
NISSAN MAXIMA KYLO REN TIE SILENCER: Kylo Ren's TIE Silencer is one of the new crafts that will appear in The Last Jedi. And it will look a little like this Maxima, which has added laser cannons and missile launchers, along with bigger wings that a mid-1970s F1 car
CAPTAIN PHASMA NISSAN MAXIMA: Captain Phasma is the huge female stormtrooper who gets to wear shiny silver armour. As well as the new paint job, this Maxima apparently features ground effects for a more intimidating look.
NISSAN MAXIMA KYLO REN TIE SILENCER: We should point out, although you have likely guessed, that these cars won't go on sale to the public.
POE DAMERON NISSAN ROGUE X-WING WITH BB-8: The thruster on the back of the Rogue/X-Wing mash-up suggests it doesn't have the standard petrol or diesel engine inside.
POE DAMERON NISSAN ROGUE X-WING WITH BB-8: Who needs an autonomous car when you can have BB-8 as your on-board droid?
The cars were designed by Lucasarts and feature amazing attention to detail
NISSAN ALTIMA SPECIAL FORCES TIE FIGHTER: The Special Forces TIE Fighter is used by the First Order's elite troops, apparently. The most notable design feature on the Altima version is the multi-panel cockpit window, er, windscreen.

Nissan showcases six Star Wars-themed concept cars

Outlandish concepts released to celebrate release of The Last Jedi. Anyone fancy a Nissan Rogue with BB-8?

Nissan has worked with Star Wars creator Lucasfilm to develop six special edition cars based on the new Star Wars: The Last Jedi film for the Los Angeles motor show.

The six machines are all based on the firm’s most popular models in America – the Rogue and Rogue Sport (known in the UK as the X-Trail and Qashqai), Altima and Maxima. Each concept is based around a character or vehicle from the film, the forthcoming second film in the latest Star Wars trilogy.

Lucasfilm artists worked with Industrial Light and Magic to develop the concepts, which were then turned into real cars by Californian firm Vehicle Effects. The cars, predictably, will not be available for purchase. They will tour other motor shows in the US.

Look through the gallery above to check out some of the designs.
