Nissan sells 465,657 units globally in November 2018, down 8.4% YoY

Productions in the US and Mexico report YoY growth, but export still dismal with a slight increase from previous month.

Japanese carmaker Nissan has reported selling 465,657 units globally in November 2018, a decrease of 8.4 percent YoY. In the month of October, the company had revealed that the sales of its mini-vehicles clocked a 54.5 percent YoY growth with 14,375 units, but in November it clocked a 15.3 percent YoY growth with 16,029 units. The global cumulative sales declined in comparison to November 2017 (-8.4%), but rose by 4.08 percent from the previous month (447,385 units). 

In comparison to other regions, Nissan witnessed its highest sales figures from North America (150,709) and China (150,139) in the month of November 2018. Nissan states that it sold 5,128,901 units between January-November 2018 in comparison to 5,274,688 units for the same period last year. Nissan reported its highest sales growth from passenger vehicles in Japan at 24,073 units (44.5% YoY) and a 4.14 percent growth over the previous month (23,114 units, October 2018).

Exports from Japan has been dismal for Nissan with a 16.1 percent decline (42,506 units) in November 2018. Its biggest decline seems to have again come from the European region with a 90.8 percent slide, registering 338 units. This is 18 percent lesser than the October 2018 figures(413 units).

For January-November 2018, Nissan’s global production figure stood at 5,085,524 units, a YoY drop of 4.4 percent, but 9.7 percent gain over the previous month (4,587,236 units, October 2018). The company claims that its global production in November surpassed year-earlier results for the second consecutive month. Nissan manufactured 75,363 units in the US for the month of November 2018 which is said to have surpassed the year-earlier results, thus setting a record for the month. Nissan further claimed that its productions in Mexico surpassed its year-earlier results with 67,057 units in November 2018, which in fact, is 19.7 percent less than in October 2018 (80,317 units).
