Peugeot has taken the covers off its new Peugeot 2008 SUV at the Guangzhou Auto Show, in China. This follows the first product reveal in June 2019 and accelerates the French carmaker's global SUV programme, following the launches of the 3008, 4008 and 5008 SUVs.

The 2008 SUV is also Peugeot's first battery electric vehicle (BEV) in China. Key highlights of the Peugeot 2008 are its bold design, powerful and distinctive design and advanced technology (Peugeot i-Cockpit 3D). Based on the Common Modular Platform developed with Dongfeng, it provides roominess and the liberty of choice for the Chinese customers: internal-combustion (THP 100 kW DCT petrol engine) or electric power.

The new Peugeot 2008 showcases powerful, sculptural and bold design.  It features the brand’s distinctive styling cues, with the triple-claw light signatures on the headlights and the tail-lights, as well as the black strip on the tailgate. The proportions are very much SUV, with a clear-cut front end, large 18-inch wheels, generous ground clearance and a faceted profile.

The new Peugeot 2008 is equipped with the brand’s latest innovations including the new-generation Peugeot i-Cockpit 3D for an augmented experience. The holograph instrument panel projects safety-enhancing information. The compact steering wheel contributes to agility and driving pleasure, while the 7- or 10-inch touchscreen (depending on the version) optimises access to the vehicle functions and boosts ergonomics. The new SUV is fitted in China with the Apple Car Play and Baidu Car Life mirroring solutions.

The new Peugeot e-2008 strengthens the brand's electrified line-up in China, presented in Guangzhou: the 4008 4WD PHEV (Plug-in Hybrid) revealed in September 2019 and the 508 L PHEV sedan unveiled in April 2019.
