Mahindra debuts at Detroit Auto Show with Marazzo and Roxor
Mahindra marks its debut at the Detroit Motor Show with its recently launched MPV and US-market-only Roxor UV.
Mahindra & Mahindra has made its debut at the Detroit Motor Show with two models on display at its stall – the recently launched in India Marazzo MPV, which was developed at the Mahindra North American Technical Centre (MNATC) in Detroit, Michigan, and the US-market-only Roxor UV.
The Marazzo MPV was designed by the Mahindra’s American team in partnership with Pininfarina and has been reportedly built to ‘global standards’. The Marazzo has received a strong four-star Global NCAP crash safety rating.
In India, the Marazzo rivals the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga and is powered by an all-new 1,497cc, four-cylinder diesel motor (belonging to the mFalcon range of engines) that produces 123hp and 300Nm of torque. This engine will also power Mahindra’s new compact SUV, the XUV300.
The Roxor is based on the Thar, but is sold in the US as an off-road-only vehicle. It is powered by a 64hp, 2.5-litre, four-cylinder diesel engine that powers all four wheels via a 5-speed manual gearbox. The SUV stirred up some controversy when it was launched last year as FCA sued Mahindra over the styling. In November 2018, the US Trade Commission cleared the path for Mahindra Roxor sales in America.
The Roxor is produced at Mahindra’s manufacturing facility in Detroit.
