Latest innovative energy solutions to be highlighted at Petrotech 2019

Petrotech 2019 promises new opportunities for research and development in the hydrocarbon sector and highlight the best energy solutions for India and the world.

Said to be the largest biennial event for the petroleum industry in South Asia, Petrotech brings together the global hydrocarbon sector together to explore areas of growth and collaboration. Organised under the aegis of ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, ONGC and FIPI (Federation of Indian Petroleum Industry), Petrotech 2019 is working towards fostering international cooperation to achieve optimum energy mix for India. The three-day event (February 10-12) that is being held at the India Exposition Mart, Greater Noida will be attended by energy ministers, industry leaders, academicians and domain experts.

The event was conceptualised in 1995 to unite the major players of the hydrocarbon industry and saw participation from around 1,455 delegates. In 2016, the event saw more than 7,100 delegates participating from 68 countries. This year marks the 13th edition of Petrotech series with the theme of ‘Shaping the new energy world through innovation and collaboration’.

This year's event will see 2 ministerial sessions, 3 plenary session, 5 theme sessions, CEO conclave, 42 technical sessions, exclusive energy club, B2B, G2G (government to government) and network meetings and over 750 exhibitions from India and around the world on over 20,000 square metres of exhibition area. Petrotech 2019 was inaugurated by the prime minister Narendra Modi, in presence of Yogi Adityanath, chief minister of Uttar Pradesh and Dharmendra Pradhan, minister of Petroleum and Natural Gas & Skill Development and Entrepreneurship.

On February 10, 2019 a MoU between Engineers India (EIL), a PSU under the ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas, and the government of Mongolia through Mongol Refinery State owned LLC was signed. The MoU is for ‘Project Management Consultancy’ services for construction of an oil refinery plant in Mongolia by EIL. The government of Mongolia is in the process to set-up 1.5 MMTPA (million metric tonne per annum) greenfield crude oil refinery in Sainshand province, under the Line of Credit (LoC) extended by government of India.

EIL has carried out a detailed feasibility study for the project and has been pre-qualified and subsequently shortlisted for providing project management consultancy services to Mongol Refinery for the project. The MoU was signed by Dr Altantsetseg Dashdavaa, executive director, Mongol Refinery State-owned LLC and R K Sabharwal, director (commercial), EIL in the presence of Dharmendra Pradhan, and the Mongolian minister.
