Scania to deliver 250 buses to the Nigerian city of Lagos through its collaboration with the Brazilian bus and coach bodybuilder Marcopolo.

The orders have been placed by Transport Services (TSL), which would also undertake the responsibility of servicing and maintaining the bus fleet. The buses to be delivered by Marcopolo will be built on Scania’s 2-axle low-entry chassis, featuring a 9-litre 250hp engine and Marcopolo’s Viale bus body model. Marcopolo will also deliver 50 buses based on the smaller Volare model with Volkswagen Caminhoes-e-Omnibus chassis.

Scania’s expansion in the West African region began when it delivered 400 buses and coaches in Ghana in 2014. Scania is also involved in the design of bus service systems and in training of drivers.
