Jaguar Land Rover sales up 6% in March

The Tata Motors-owned Jaguar Land Rover had registered its strongest ever March sales performance, selling 58,481 vehicles, up 6% on the previous year. Land Rover also delivered its best ever March performance with 49,099 vehicles, up 13% versus last year. Jaguar retailed 9,382 vehicles, down 2,349 units.

Land Rover, which introduced the Discovery Sport last month, saw strong sales performance from the Discovery (up 35% on 2014), Range Rover Sport (up 15% on 2014), Range Rover (up 38% on 2014) and Defender (up 58% on 2014) models. 

Sales of the Jaguar F-Type were up 4% year-on-year in March. Sales of the new Jaguar XE will commence soon in Europe and the all-new XF will make its debut this month. The F-Pace, Jaguar's all-new performance crossover, will go on sale in 2016 and will be manufactured at Jaguar Land Rover's Solihull plant in the UK.

Commenting on the month, Andy Goss, Jaguar Land Rover Group Sales Operations Director said: "Fantastic news for Land Rover this month achieving its strongest ever March sales performance and particularly exciting to see Jaguar Land Rover UK and USA sales significantly up on the prior year. Furthermore, the response to the new Jaguar XF which was showcased at the New York and Seoul motor shows last week has been extremely positive. 2015 will most definitely be the year of the cat."

Jaguar Land Rover has already revealed plans for 50 product launches over the next five years, of which 12 will be in 2015 alone. In the past five years, the company has tripled its turnover, doubled its sales and doubled its workforce. In 2014, it sold 462,678 vehicles, up 9%. Of that, Jaguar sold 81,570 vehicles and Land Rover sold 381,108 vehicles. In the next fiscal year, it will investment over £3.0 billion in its products and facilities.
