The Infiniti Q60 concept car has been revealed ahead of its public debut at the Detroit Motor Show next week.

The concept, which provides strong clues as to the styling of Infiniti's next-generation Q60 sports coupé, features design cues both from the recent Q80 Inspiration concept car, and from the Q50 Eau Rouge.

Infiniti says the model offers "a no-compromise fusion of looks and speed," and "exceptional dynamics and driving pleasure," though details on the Q60 concept's powertrain have yet to be revealed.

The low-slung, swooping lines of the Q60 are a direct reference to the Q80 Inspiration concept, which was first seen at the Paris motor show last October. Infiniti says elements such as the vents behind the front wheel arches have been taken from the Q50 Eau Rouge.

The two-door coupé offers a 2+2 seating layout, and features carbon fibre and Alcantara leather trim inside. The model sits on custom 21-inch alloy wheels.

Infiniti executive design director Alfonso Albaisa said: "The Q80 Inspiration was an indication of Infiniti’s future design language"

"The Q60 Concept is the next step in the journey."

The Q60 was introduced to American markets in 2014. It's unknown yet whether the new model will come to the UK, although Infiniti bosses haven't been shy in expressing their desire for more sales in Europe.

Company officials told Autocar last September that the firm's range would eventually comprise 10 models, starting with a new entry-level model, dubbed Q20, and finishing with the range-topping Q80, which will look to take on the likes of Porsche’s Panamera.
