Hyundai Motor Company has registered global sales of 340,534 units in June 2022, a 5.2-percent increase from the previous month and a 4.5-percent decrease year over year.

In markets outside of Korea, Hyundai Motor sold a total of 281,024 units, a 7.9-percent increase from May and a 2.5-percent year-on-year decrease. Despite global component shortage issues and the lockdown of several cities in China due to the ongoing pandemic, the sales of global markets have recovered steadily this year, says the Korean carmaker.

Hyundai Motor India, which sold a total of 49,001 units, up 21% (June 2021: 40,496), contributed 14.38% to Hyundai Motor’s global sales. In terms of overseas market sales, India's share grows to 17 percent.

Sales in Korea were down by 13 percent year-on-year to 59,510 units. However, the company maintained solid sales for SUV models and the Genesis luxury brand, which sold 20,006 units and 11,208 units, respectively.

Meanwhile, Hyundai is solidifying its position as a global electric vehicle (EV) leader, selling approximately 19,000 units in June, an over 30-percent increase from a year earlier. The company has sold approximately 100,000 EVs in the global market so far this year.

The company says it “will make an effort to alleviate business uncertainties by optimising production and inventory status and diversifying business strategies tailored for each region.”
