Honda has refreshed its Jazz range with visual updates and a new 1.5-litre petrol engine.

On display at the Frankfurt motor show, the five-door hatchback gets a sharpened exterior more befitting of Honda’s latest design language, as well as a spruced-up interior.

It comes with cruise control, automatic headlights and emergency city braking technology. Higher-up models get a 7in infotainment system, rear-view parking camera, keyless entry and start, as well as driver aids such as forward collision warning, lane departure warning and traffic sign recognition.

European buyers are also offered Honda’s 1.5-litre four-cylinder i-Vtec engine for the first time, with claims that it’s good for 52.3mpg, with a 128bhp output.

The new unit is added to the existing 1.3-litre petrol option. Both engines are available alongside a six-speed manual gearbox or CVT transmission.

Order books for the updated Jazz open in November, with prices expected to stay close to the outgoing version’s £13,995 opener. First deliveries are due in early 2018.
