Gestamp opens its second Gestamp Technology Institute in Mexico

Gestamp, the multinational company specializing in the design, development, and manufacturing of highly engineered metal components for the automotive industry, has inaugurated its new Gestamp Technology Institute (GTI) in Puebla, Mexico.

Building on the success of its first GTI, opened in 2016 in Boroa (Basque Country, Spain), the company is reinforcing its commitment to knowledge transfer, technological development, and talent promotion with this second centre.

The official inauguration took place on Monday, February 10, in a ceremony led by Francisco J. Riberas (Executive Chairman of Gestamp) and Jaime Oropeza (Secretary of Economy and Tourism of the Puebla City Council), Patricia Riberas (Chief Operational Excellence Officer), Luis Vega (regional director, Gestamp Mexico), Zulema Mateos (Corporate Director of Talent Management) and Mireia Arroyo (Corporate Director of Institutional Affairs, Communication and Marketing).

According to Francisco J. Riberas, Executive Chairman of Gestamp, the new GTI in Puebla represents “another step forward in our commitment to developing highly skilled technical talent to strengthen our leadership in automotive technology. By integrating innovation and expertise, we are investing in the future of mobility."

With the launch of this new GTI, Gestamp further solidifies its position as a technological leader and pioneer in innovation within the automotive sector. To achieve this, the new centre will continuously adapt its training programs to the latest innovations in technologies and processes, following the model established at GTI Boroa.

This project has a dual purpose. On one hand, it aims to attract technical talent from universities and other educational institutions providing them with specialized training in hot stamping, welding, and tooling, as well as other profiles needed in the region, such as quality engineers. On the other hand, it aims to provide internal training to all Gestamp employees in the region, focusing on the new technologies implemented in the company's production processes. This will be achieved through standardized internal training programs and a learning-by-doing methodology that ensures hands-on experience.
