eBay has announced its latest auto feature, ‘Shop by Diagram’, which lets shoppers use interactive schematics and ‘My Garage’ that is updated to facilitate an exclusive tailored shopping of parts and accessories for an owner’s vehicle.

Shop by Diagram lets shoppers use interactive schematics to determine which parts are necessary and then provides the exact item that they need to purchase. The aim behind the new feature is to enable a shopper with minimum knowledge of part’s name or part number to make the purchase by incorporating an interactive schematic diagram of the car.

eBay claims that its proprietary technology combs through millions of listed parts to match the visual diagram for each vehicle and its fitment technology guarantees compatibility with the year, make and model of the vehicle selected by the shopper.

Jay Hanson, COO and vice-president of eBay Americas, said, “The new features we’re rolling out today eliminates the guesswork involved in the purchasing of an auto part by helping people find and buy the specific part they need -- even if they don't know exactly what it is.”

My Garage: specific parts for specific vehicles
Under this feature, eBay will only surface items that fit the vehicles in the owner’s virtual garage. The ‘My Garage’ feature in eBay saves the details of an owner’s cars, trucks and motorcycles including year, make, model, trim level and engine type to help them get streamlined access to the parts specific to their vehicle.

eBay’s auto ecosystem called the eBay Motors claims to have nearly 80 million live part listings and nearly 220k live car and truck listings.
