Automotive supplier Continental will place its workshop services – be they belt drive components, air springs, tyre pressure monitoring sensors, or diagnostic devices – in centre stage at Automechanika from September 16 to 20, 2014, in Frankfurt am Main.

The ContiTech Power Transmission Group will premiere a new product with its new accessory drive kits complete with V-ribbed belts and spanners. ContiTech is also systematically expanding its range of belt drive components. The water pumps in the ‘timing belt kits with water pump’ range, which was recently expanded, meet ContiTech's quality standards – as do the spanners, TVD disks, and assembly equipment.

Visitors to the stand will also be able to test a new smartphone app, which provides general and technical data about the products. This gives workshops another way of easily calling up the product information they require. For detailed information and installation tips, the app is linked to the Product Information Center (PIC), ContiTech's online service.

VDO's Automechanika highlight will be the VDO REDI-Sensor for Europe. This is a sensor for latest-generation tyre pressure monitoring systems (TPMS) and is designed to make tyre servicing easier. In line with an EU regulation, which came into force in the early 2014, tyre service providers must prepare for the widespread introduction of TPMS in all new passenger cars. The intelligent product architecture of the REDI-Sensor makes tyre servicing as simple as possible. The sensors, which are approximately the size of a 50-cent piece, are simply bonded to the inside of the tyre. Since the VDO REDI-Sensors are already programmed at the factory, the workshop does not have to perform the programming itself. Automechanika will also showcase VDO's line of diagnostic products, which Continental uses to supply automotive workshops with high-performance multi-brand diagnostic devices and information for fault diagnostics and repair work.

With its ATE brand, Continental supplies wear and spare parts, testing devices, specialist tools, a solid, single-source knowledge base, and high-quality services for brake servicing – one of the most important sources of revenue for automotive workshops. ATE will present a strong portfolio of services and brake products at Automechanika. The product highlight will be the innovative ATE ceramic brake linings, which give drivers the choice to opt for brake linings that generate little brake dust and enable exceptionally comfortable braking.
