BYD’s seven millionth new energy vehicle rolls out, last million units in just 4 months
Chinese manufacturer becomes the world’s first automaker to manufacture seven million NEVs. The last million NEVs have been produced in just four months.
Barely four months after China’s BYD produced its six-millionth new energy vehicle (NEV) at the Zhengzhou factory on November 26, the company has rolled out its seven-millionth unit on March 25. The milestone vehicle is a Denza N7 and makes BYD the world's first automaker to manufacture seven million NEVs.
BYD produced its millionth NEV in May 2021, rapidly multiplying this figure threefold within 18 months. It surpassed the five-million milestone in merely nine additional months, and then in just seven months, accelerated to the seven-million milestone, showcasing a robust end-to-end supply chain and the effect of scale.
BYD’s growth has been remarkable. In CY2023, BYD’s cumulative annual NEV sales soared to 3.02 million units, solidifying its status as the global leader in NEV sales. A variety of models from its extensive brand portfolio have consistently led sales rankings within their individual categories.
In CY2023, the company rapidly expanded its global footprint, witnessing a surge in overseas new energy passenger car sales that exceeded 240,000 units — a 337% year-on-year growth — making it the leading exporter of NEVs in 2023.
In 2023, BYD's cumulative annual sales of NEV soared to 3.02 million units, solidifying its status as the global leader in NEV sales. A variety of models from its extensive brand portfolio consistently led sales rankings within their individual categories.
Up to now, BYD's new energy passenger vehicles have been introduced to 64 countries and regions globally, with strategic investments in manufacturing facilities in Thailand, Brazil, Uzbekistan, and Hungary. This year, BYD has also become the official partner of UEFA European Football Championship 2024, showcasing its new energy vehicles on the world stage.
In India, BYD currently retails three all-electric passenger vehicles – the recently launched Seal sedan, the Atto 3 SUV, and the e6 MPV. BYD India’s passenger vehicle division currently has dealership network comprising 24 showrooms across 21 cities.
BYD India has two factories, covering more than 140,000 square metres, with an investment exceeding $200 million. Its business covers electric passenger cars, battery energy storage, electric buses, electric trucks, electric forklifts, and electronics.
