The Eberspaecher Group of Companies is investing in a component plant for exhaust technology in Mexico. The new building in Saltillo will house manufacturing facilities for existing and future contracts in the NAFTA market.

The planned facility with approximately 15,000 square metres of manufacturing space will produce complete exhaust systems as well as components such as particulate filters and catalytic converters for the NAFTA market. These systems will be used for passenger cars and commercial vehicles. Dr. Thomas Waldhier, COO of the Division Exhaust Technology believes this is a crucial step: “Our emission control technologies are in demand worldwide. The plant in Mexico will strengthen our North American production network and allow us to supply our local customers directly,” he said.

The new building will be constructed in Server Industrial Park in Saltillo, in the immediate vicinity of major international vehicle manufacturers. Situated around 300 kilometres south-west of the US border, Saltillo is directly adjacent to the Pan-American Highway and offers excellent logistics connections.

The building is due to be completed in late summer with the first series products expected to roll off the production line by the end of 2019. Eberspaecher will create approximately 250 jobs in the medium term and plans to increase this number to over 500 employees in the long term to cater for new business.
To date, the Eberspaecher Group is represented at nine sites in North America. Within the area of exhaust technology, these include the US production plants in Brighton and Wixom (Michigan), Spartanburg (South Carolina) and Northport (Alabama) as well as a development center in Novi (Michigan). In Mexico, the Group of Companies manufactures bus air-conditioning systems at the site in Monterrey since 2017.
