BMW Group to use BASF's eco-friendly paints

Company plans to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by more than 15,000 metric tons by 2030.

BMW Group will be the first OEM to use BASF paints certified according to the biomass balance approach in order to reduce fossil resources and use more sustainable raw materials while minimizing the carbon footprint.

According to the statement, using BASF Coatings’ CathoGuard 800 ReSource e-coat and iGloss matt ReSource for vehicle coatings enables carbon dioxide  avoidance of around 40 percent per coating layer. The company plans to reduce the amount of carbon dioxide emitted in the plants by more than 15,000 metric tons by 2030.
