Bharat Forge's Baba Kalyani conferred 'Order of the Rising Sun' by Japan
Kalyani is being recognised for his contribution to strengthen India and Japan relations in the economic field.
Bharat Forge's chairman and MD Baba Kalyani has been conferred with the 'Order of the Rising Sun, Gold and Silver Star' by the government of Japan. He is one of the foreign recipients of this year’s Autumn Decorations for his contribution to strengthen business ties between Japan and India.
Kalyani, a renowned global businessman, chairman and MD of Bharat Forge, also holds the position of co-chairman of Japan – India Business leader’s Forum. He has been actively contributing to the forum by leading the discussions and preparing reports to address economic issues. Moreover, he has encouraged Japanese companies to expand in India.
Commenting on the award, Baba Kalyani said, “I am immensely proud and honoured to receive the Decorations - Order of the Rising Sun and earnestly grateful to Japanese government for this recognition.”
Baba Kalyani, a Padma Bhushan awardee, has a BE in mechanical engineering from BITS Pilani and an MS from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.
The Order of the Rising Sun was established by Emperor Meiji in 1875, it is the Japanese government’s second highest national honour, which is awarded to those who have made distinguished achievements in international relations, promotion of Japanese culture, advancements in their field and development in welfare or preservation of the environment.
