Adient expands China Tech Centre capabilities in new drive for innovation

The expanded and upgraded facility will offer a highly collaborative, flexible, digital and innovative environment for the Adient China engineering team. It will also allow close collaboration with Adient’s other global technical centres to drive innovation in seat technology, particularly in the areas of electrification and smartification.

Adient expands China Tech Centre capabilities in new drive for innovation

Adient, a global leader in automotive seating, has completed the expansion programme at its China Technical Center in Chongqing. The completion ceremony was officiated by Adient President and CEO Jerome Dorlack, APAC Executive Vice-President James Huang, along with APAC and China leadership teams and China Technical Centre employees.

This expansion represents a significant investment in Adient’s long-term growth in China, reinforcing the company’s commitment to product innovation. The upgraded centre is now equipped with state-of-the-art facilities, including a sled test lab and a MAST test lab, enhancing the company’s engineering design, testing, validation and product development capabilities.

The facility offers a collaborative, flexible, and digitally advanced environment for the Adient China engineering team, driving the development of innovative automotive seating solutions that cater to both local trends and global automotive demands.

“China is the world’s largest automotive market and a key growth engine for Adient,” said Jerome Dorlack said. “Our expansion here reflects our commitment to integrating global leading technologies with local market needs, ensuring we continue to deliver exceptional products and services to our local and global customers, and drive innovations in electrification and smartification. We are confident in the future of China’s automotive industry, and this expansion underscores our continued investment in the market.”

Close collaboration with other Adient global tech centres
The upgraded technical centre, equipped with world-class facilities and resources, will foster greater innovation and accelerate technological advancements. It will work closely with Adient’s other global technical centres to lead innovation in the automotive seating industry.
