The Automotive Component Manufacturers Association of India (ACMA), the apex body representing the Indian Auto Component Industry in association with Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO), is organising the first edition of Indian Auto Parts & Business Matchmaking show in Japan from 16-17 November in Tokyo and 18-19 November in Nagoya. The show supported by the Indian Embassy in Tokyo and the Ministry of Commerce & Industry, government of India, will serve as an ideal platform to discover new opportunities – sourcing, joint ventures and technical collaborations for the auto component industries of the two countries as also leverage each other’s strengths.
This is the first ever such initiative by ACMA being organised in the backdrop of the earlier visit of the Indian prime minister Narendra Modi to Japan in September 2014.
“Consistent focus on quality has helped the rapidly growing acceptance of India-made auto components in the global supply chain. During the last three decades of working together with the Japanese auto industry, Indian auto component manufacturers have embraced several Japanese Quality practices. That apart, the past few years have seen a systematic shift as Indian component manufacturers consciously move away from ‘Build to Print’ to innovation, R&D and creation of products and IP, furthering the cause of exports. Practically every major OEM in the world is today sourcing auto components from India, and we are ready to supply to the Japanese automotive industry as well, said Arvind Balaji, president, ACMA.
“Indian auto component promoters have had a lot of experience working with Japanese and are keen to expand relationships, this is an opportune time for Japanese OEMs and Tier 1s present in India to focus on ‘deep localisation’ and invest in Engineering, R&D and innovation," summed up Balaji.
Some of the key highlights from the event are:
- Participation from over 50 Indian auto component manufacturers with a 65-member delegation
- The India opportunity seminar will be attended by over 150 delegates
- Confirmation from over 2,000 business visitors for the Match Making Shows
- B2B meetings with 50 Japanese Tier 2 / Tier 3 companies
- 10 OEMs have confirmed for visiting the show with their procurement, engineering and R&D teams
