The 2015 version of the Toyota Avensis has received the most comprehensive facelift of any of the company's models yet.

Although Toyota has not revealed many details about the changes, a spokesman confirmed that the company has invested more in this model year change than in any other mid-life facelift. The previous biggest investment was in the 2014 change to the Toyota Auris.

Toyota has confirmed that the revamped Avensis will come with a new range of engines that are intended to improve performance and efficiency in order to appeal to both fleet and private buyers. These engines are expected to be BMW-sourced powerplants like the 1.6-litre D-4D diesel currently offered in the Verso MPV.

The new Avensis will also come with a refreshed interior, a reworked chassis and changes to the exterior.

The styling at the front has been brought into line with that of the rest of the recent Toyota range, with new headlights, bumper and bonnet. The rear looks to have been updated as well, with new lights and a restyled bumper expected. A Toyota spokesman has also said there will be changes to the Avensis's chassis.

The new Avensis has been styled in Toyota’s Design Studio ED2 in France, developed in the company’s R&D Centre in Belgium, and built in its factory in the UK, at Burnaston, near Derby.

More information is expected on the new Avensis at the Geneva motor show.
