Pricol revs up e-cockpit development, showcases prototypes to automakers

Coimbatore-based Pricol Limited, a leading supplier of dashboards to the Indian automotive industry, is making headway in the development of e-cockpits and is showcasing prototypes and proof-of-concept (POC) e-cockpits to car and commercial vehicle manufacturers, and discussions for potential adoption are ongoing.

The development comes against the backdorp of the evolving automotive landscape, where digitalisation and connected car technologies are gaining traction. E-cockpits offer a customisable and user-friendly interface for drivers, enhancing safety and convenience.

Siddharth Manoharan, Director of Strategy, Pricol, said during a post-result earnings call, "With regards to E-Cockpit, currently, as you know, we have developed the prototypes and proof of concepts, and currently, it is being showcased to various passenger vehicle as well as commercial vehicle customers."

"It is in the concept stage, and discussion with many of them is ongoing," he added.

Pricol has also announced a partnership with TYW, a Chinese company for vertically integrating the screens and other components.

"So, at this point in time, we are well positioned to showcase these products with some of our customers who have also shown interest in taking it to the next stages of discussion," Manoharan stated.

While the talks with the OEMs continue, Pricol's top leadership emphasises that e-cockpits are a very advanced product and their adoption will take some time in the market.

Talking about the connected vehicle solutions, Manoharan, while referring to Pricol's partnership with Sibros, noted that they have showcased some of their proof of concepts to both domestic and international customers, and some testing is ongoing at the moment, with international two-wheeler OEMs as well, which has seen a very good response. "In this coming year, you will see some updates and information flowing in from our end," he further added.

Pricol company carries out its business and operations in driver information and connected vehicle solutions and actuations as well as fluid management systems, catering to leading automotive OEMs in two- and three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, commercial vehicles, farm equipment, and offroad vehicles across India and in international markets (45+ countries) with over 2000 product variants.
