What are the highlights of the new plant?
The high-class gear-making plant at Dewas is to meet the gear and crown wheel pinion (CWP) requirements of medium commercial vehicles (MCVs), with the balance capacity to meet export orders. Turnover should reach about Rs 100 crore in five years.


What quality initiatives has the company undertaken?
We have obtained certification of TS-16949 quality management system to meet world-class quality standards and train our workforce to meet the stringent requirement of the processes.


When do you think you will utilise the full capacity of 100,000 gears a month?
Yes, we intend to reach 100,000 gears a month within two years and should be starting production of crown wheel pinions by June 2009.


Are you catering to other OEMs apart from VECV?
We cater to companies such as John Deere, CNH, Fairfield, Carraro and Caterpillar.


How will this unit help Volvo Powertrain Corporation?
We would like to be a large outsourcing base for Volvo gears within the next two to three years.
