Royal Enfield has shattered its own sales records once again, selling 1,24,328 motorcycles in September 2025, marking the highest monthly sales figure in the company's 124-year history. This performance comes just a month after the brand set its previous record with 1,14,002 units in August 2025.
The September sales represent a robust 43% year-on-year growth compared to 86,978 units sold in September 2024, translating to an increase of 37,350 units. Month-on-month, the company posted a 9% growth over August's tally, adding 10,326 units to its previous record.
Strong Festive Momentum Drives Growth
The surge in sales coincides with the onset of India's festive season, traditionally a peak period for automobile purchases. B. Govindarajan, Managing Director of Eicher Motors Ltd. and Chief Executive Officer of Royal Enfield, attributed the performance to strategic preparations for the festive period.
"It has been an incredible start to the festive season for us at Royal Enfield. We have registered our best ever monthly sales volume and have crossed 1,00,000+ retail volumes for the month," Govindarajan stated. He emphasized the company's considerable efforts to ensure customers could take home their preferred motorcycles during this crucial buying season.
Segment-Wise Performance Analysis
Royal Enfield's product portfolio showed strong performance across both engine capacity segments:
350cc and Below: Models in this category sold 1,07,478 units in September 2025, representing a 43% increase over 75,331 units in September 2024. For the April-September 2025 period, this segment recorded sales of 5,09,610 units, up 32% from 3,87,191 units in the corresponding period last year.
Above 350cc: The premium segment delivered 16,850 units, marking a 45% year-on-year growth from 11,647 units in September 2024. The year-to-date figure for this category stands at 82,293 units, reflecting a 22% increase over 67,588 units in the same period of the previous fiscal year.
Domestic and Export Markets
Domestic sales dominated the September performance with 1,13,573 units, registering a 43% jump from 79,325 units in September 2024. This represents a significant acceleration from the year-to-date domestic growth rate of 27%.
Export markets contributed 10,755 units during the month, up 41% from 7,653 units in September 2024. Notably, international business has been a standout performer for the company, with year-to-date exports reaching 70,421 units—a substantial 60% increase over 43,936 units in the first half of the previous fiscal year.
Product Launches and Strategic Initiatives
September saw Royal Enfield introduce the upgraded 2025 Meteor 350, featuring enhanced styling, comfort, and technology. The refreshed cruiser lineup includes four variants—Fireball, Stellar, Aurora, and Supernova—across seven new color options, with prices starting at INR 1,95,762 (ex-showroom, Chennai).
The upgraded model incorporates LED headlamps, a Tripper navigation pod, LED turn indicators, a USB Type-C fast-charging port, an assist-and-slip clutch, and adjustable levers, all powered by the 349cc air-cooled J-series engine.
The company also announced a partnership with Flipkart starting September 22, enabling customers in five major cities—Bengaluru, Gurugram, Kolkata, Lucknow, and Mumbai—to purchase the entire 350cc range through the e-commerce platform with flexible payment options. Delivery and after-sales support will be managed by authorized Royal Enfield dealers.
Additionally, Royal Enfield's One Ride 2025 event on September 21 brought together over 40,000 riders across 1,500 rides in more than 60 countries, reinforcing the brand's community engagement efforts.
Year-to-Date Performance
For the April-September 2025 period, Royal Enfield has sold 5,91,903 motorcycles, representing a 30% increase over 4,54,779 units in the corresponding period of FY 2024-25. The company is on track for a strong full-year performance, building on its milestone achievement of crossing 1 million annual sales in the fiscal year ending March 2025.
The consecutive record-breaking months underscore Royal Enfield's strengthening position in India's mid-size motorcycle segment. After posting 88,045 units in July 2025, the company jumped to 1,14,002 units in August before further expanding to 1,24,328 units in September—a trajectory that demonstrates sustained growth momentum.
The 350cc portfolio continues to be the volume driver, contributing approximately 86% of total sales. Models like the Classic 350, Hunter 350, Bullet 350, Goan Classic 350, and the newly upgraded Meteor 350 form the backbone of this segment, while the premium lineup including the Himalayan 450, Bear 650, Shotgun 650, Continental GT 650, Interceptor 650, and Super Meteor 650 are driving growth in the above-350cc category.
With the festive season extending into October and November, Royal Enfield appears well-positioned to maintain its growth trajectory. The company's expanded product portfolio, strategic partnerships, and strong community engagement initiatives provide a solid foundation for continued performance in the remainder of FY 2025-26.
Govindarajan expressed confidence in the growth momentum, stating, "All our new and existing motorcycles continue to perform well. We are confident of the growth momentum and are looking forward to a great year ahead."
