Ola Electric holds onto lead over TVS and Bajaj in first three weeks of April

Having taken the lead early in April, Ola has sold 12,546 units in the April 1-21 period, just 84 units ahead of TVS iQube and 841 units more than the Bajaj Chetak. In the intense battle underway at the top, it remains to be seen if Ola maintains the lead over its two archrivals in the upcoming nine days of April 2025.

Ola Electric holds onto lead over TVS and Bajaj in first three weeks of April

The first three weeks of April 2025 have seen an intense battle for supremacy underway in the electric two-wheeler industry, which wrapped up FY2025 on a high note with a record 1.14 million units. As per the latest retail sales stats available on the Vahan portal (April 22), a total of 58,559 e-2Ws have been retailed in the April 1-21 period. Ola Electric, which had taken an early lead in the month with 4,294 units, continues to hold onto No. 1 position. . . albeit by a slender margin.

Vahan data shows that Ola with 12,546 units currently has an 84-unit lead over TVS Motor Co (12,462 iQubes) and 841 units over Bajaj Auto (11,705 Chetaks). This gives Ola a current market share of 21%, similar to TVS, and a tad more than Bajaj Auto’s 20 percent. The three OEMs put together have a 62% share of the overall e-2W market in the first three weeks of April.

Vahan data shows that Ola with 12,546 units has an 84-unit lead over TVS Motor Co (12,462 iQubes) and 841 units over Bajaj Auto (11,705 Chetaks).

While fourth-ranked Ather Energy with 8,915 units has a market share of 15%, Hero MotoCorp has retailed 3,520 units, 933 units more than Greaves Electric Mobility’s 2,587 units.

The Pune-based Bgauss Auto, which is a regular in the Top 10 ranking, has clocked sales of 939 e-scooters to take No. 7 position. Meanwhile, Kinetic Green, which is seeing demand rise for its e-scooters and e-moped, has sold 887 units in April Weeks 1-2-3. Pur Energy (853 units) and River Mobility (553 units) wrap up the Top 10 table.

108,000 EVs SOLD IN FIRST 3 WEEKS OF APRIL 2025
As per the retail sales data on the Vahan portal, a total of 107,912 electric vehicles across the two-wheeler, three-wheeler, passenger vehicle and commercial vehicle segments have been sold in India.

The two-wheeler segment with 58,559 units, accounts for the bulk – 54% – of the sales, followed by three-wheelers: 41,368 units and a 38% share of EV sales.

The electric car, SUV and MPV segment has seen 7,457 zero-emission vehicles being delivered to buyers between April 1 and 21, which makes for a 7% share.

Commercial vehicles, with 521 units, have a 0.48% share of all-India EV sales in April Week 1.
