Sales of the locally manufactured Jeep Compass will soon drive past the 50,000-unit mark in India. Most likely this month. The SUV, which was launched on July 31, 2017, has sold a total of 49,066 units till-end February 2021 (see data table below). Nearly 70 percent of the sales are for the diesel variants.

FCA India has also exported a total of 21,991 units, since exports of the Jeep Compass began to right-hand-drive overseas markets on October 25, 2017. The Ranjangaon plant is the sole export facility for right-hand-drive markets worldwide.

While the first 10,000 units were sold in the domestic market barely within four-and-a-half months after launch, the 20,000-units mark was crossed within nine months of launch.

The 2021 Jeep Compass facelift is now available to buy via the brand’s online portal and India dealerships, with prices ranging between Rs 16.99-28.29 lakh (ex-showroom, India, except Kerala). Jeep’s refreshed 5-seat SUV – which gets tweaks to its design and additions to the features list – is available in the same four variants as the pre-facelift Compass – Sport, Longitude, Limited (O), Model S

Mechanically, the pre-facelift and facelift Compass are identical. The 163hp, 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 173hp, 2.0-litre turbo-diesel engines continue unchanged. Both have a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, though higher variants of the Compass petrol get a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic, while the diesel version gets a 9-speed torque convertor auto as an option.
