'We are eyeing share of India's mainstream motorcycle segment': Madhumita Agrawal

Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler startup Oben Electric, which has introduced two electric motorcycles - Oben Rorr and Oben Rorr EZ - in the Indian market, eyes a share of the country's mainstream (100cc-150cc) motorcycle segment with its stylish and high-on-technology commuter-centric products.

While the Rorr rivals ICE motorcycles from the 150cc segment, the Rorr EZ competes against mainstream 125cc motorcycles from established two-wheeler players. The company is targeting the daily commuter who seeks value, efficiency, reliability, and style, with its latest range of products. According to Madhumita Agrawal, Founder and CEO, Oben Electric, "With our latest all-electric products, we are playing in the mainstream motorcycle segment which comprises about 70% of the Indian two-wheeler market. The Rorr EZ will compete against ICE products in the 125cc segment."

Oben Electric plans to launch four more products in the future, and with an existing retail network in Delhi-NCR, Jaipur, Pune, and Bengaluru, aims to commission 50 new outlets in the next quarter, and eye monthly volumes of 1,000 units in CY25. The company is also planning to raise around US$ 50-60 million in funding by CY26, to execute its future growth plans.
