Exclusive: 'Accreditation key to scale industry's quality initiatives': Vipin Sondhi
The autonomous body for accrediting certification agencies believes accreditation is important to drive consumer confidence in emerging propulsion technologies whilst India positions itself to emerge as a global testing hub.
The National Accreditation Board for Certification Bodies (NABCB) under the aegis of the Quality Council of India (QCI) is taking charge of accrediting standardising organisations in the country to certify companies and scale the efforts of quality improvement.
Vipin Sondhi, Chairperson, National Board for Quality Promotion (NBQP) talks about how the technological disruption in the automotive industry with the foray of electric vehicles, hydrogen- and bi-fuel powertrains, demands formulation of indigenous standards, and how autonomous bodies like the NABCB can play a big role in the accreditation of testing and certification bodies.
Sondhi stresses upon the need for accreditation to standardise and upskill Tier-2s and MSMEs in the automotive ecosystem to level them up as per global standards. He further talks about how the advanced propulsion technologies require standardisation to develop consumer confidence, and how India can position itself to become a global testing hub with robust infrastructure in place.
