Toyota Kirloskar Motor empowers GTTC principals with specialised learning workshop
The program targets youth who have completed their 10th standard and offers a three-year training program in two trades - automobile welding and automobile assembly.
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) reaffirmed its commitment to nurturing a future-ready workforce and fostering talent for the automotive sector through a specialised workshop for thirty-one Government Tool Room & Training Centre (GTTC) Principals from across Karnataka. The workshop, held at the TKM plant in Bidadi, aimed to enhance the capacities of GTTC centers by integrating insights and best practices gleaned from a visit to the Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI) and various other training sessions.
TKM's commitment to GTTC development spans a spectrum of programs, including Faculty Development, Industry-specific curriculum, Infrastructure Enhancement, Deployment of TKM Trainers, and Training Courses designed for students.
Shankara G, Executive Vice President and Director, Toyota Kirloskar Motor, speaking on the announcement said “We are thrilled with the wholehearted participation by Principals from thirty-one Government Tool Room & Training Centres (GTTC) from across Karnataka. GTTC’s contribution towards skill development among the youth is immense. At TKM, we recognise the crucial importance of enhancing capabilities to meet the rapidly growing demand for skilled manpower. Our endeavour is to ensure capacity building of the faculty so that they develop youth with knowledge, skills, attitude and discipline required for the industry. Through this, we would like to transform rural youth into world-class competitive technicians and contribute to the nation and the world.”
“Currently, TKM has partnerships with sixty-five institutes in Karnataka for unique skill training programs, including sixteen GTTCs (Government Tool Room and Training Centres). Our plan is to adopt and develop five more GTTCs in the upcoming financial year. This strategic expansion perfectly aligns with TKM's vision to cultivate an automotive industry culture and promote skill development. TKM remains dedicated to enhancing the skilling landscape in Karnataka and India, in line with the government's Skill India Mission,” he added.
Recognised as an Industrial Training Provider (ITP) by GTTC, TKM signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) in January 2021 to deliver industry-specific skill development training in GTTC locations. Since then, TKM has played a pivotal role in establishing and enhancing GTTC institutes throughout Karnataka.
TKM offers trainees the opportunity to acquire skills relevant to the manufacturing industry and enhance their employment potential through a 'Learn and Earn' approach, blending theoretical and On-the-Job Development. Supervised by Toyota experts with hands-on experience in the Toyota Production System, trainees undergo certification exams jointly conducted by GTTC and TKM, following Automotive Skills Development Council guidelines.
