MIT-WPU team exhibits Hyperloop Prototype at the European Hyperloop Week 2023
It was the exclusive Asian participant to successfully navigate stringent testing and safety documentation, the team showcased a scalable Hyperloop prototype.
MIT-World Peace University’s student group, 'Team Vegapod Hyperloop', achieved a position among the world's top six teams, unveiling a fully functional prototype at the European Hyperloop Week. It secured a place among the top six teams worldwide.
A team consisting of 25 students with diverse backgrounds in engineering and management was led by Ganesh Karandikar, the Head of MIT-WPU's School of Mechanical Engineering, along with Omkar Kulkarni, Assistant Professor at MIT-WPU.
Known as the future of transportation, Hyperloop is an advanced high-speed system designed for the rapid movement of passengers and cargo within cylindrical pods traveling at speeds of approximately 600-700 miles per hour.
The prototype received acclaim for its incorporation of sustainable materials, including a fully recyclable mechanical subsystem and the utilization of environmentally friendly materials such as hemp and flax fiber.
Additionally, it boasts innovative attributes like a contactless lateral stability system, a distinctive pneumatic braking mechanism, and a highly advanced and durable electronics and electrical subsystem, earning accolades within the Hyperloop community.
