JBM enters East India market, deploys 200 electric busses in Odisha
Currently, the company operates over 1500 electric buses across 10 states and major Indian airports, supported by comprehensive charging infrastructure.
In a significant move towards sustainable public transport, JBM ECOLIFE Electric AC Buses were flagged off by Chief Minister, Naveen Patnaik, in Berhampur. A total of 200 electric buses will serve Berhampur, Bhubaneswar, and Cuttack, marking JBM's entry into the eastern Indian market. Currently, JBM operates over 1500 electric buses across 10 states and major Indian airports, supported by comprehensive charging infrastructure.
The 9-meter JBM ECOLIFE electric buses are expected to save approximately 1000 tons of CO2 and 420,000 liters of diesel over a decade. The busses feature fast-charging lithium-ion batteries and are equipped with modern amenities like Real-Time Passenger Information Systems, emergency panic buttons, vehicle tracking, CCTV, public address systems, and advanced safety measures.
Nishant Arya, Vice Chairman & MD of JBM Group, speaking on the announcement said, “This is an important occasion for us as we enter the Eastern market and are thankful to the state government for giving us the opportunity to serve the state and its people. These electric buses are technologically advanced, safe, efficient, comfortable and will go a long way in mitigating the city’s pollution. We are committed to ensuring smooth operations and hence have set-up appropriate infrastructure for charging and maintenance of these electric buses”.
