In his welcome address, Jamshyd Godrej recalled his association with late Vikram Kirloskar, the former Vice Chairman of Toyota Kirloskar Motor. He noted that, despite the pandemic's strain on business, exhibitions are back. Godrej said that IMTMA has completed a 75-year journey and will continue to support the machine tool and manufacturing industries while the Bangalore International Exhibition Centre (BIEC) will support exhibitions, investor conferences and corporate events.

Giving a broader perspective of the manufacturing industry, Kamal Bali said that manufacturing is the future growth story of India and IMTEX is a great platform for that. He said that the next decade belongs to India which is slated to do well because of forward looking policies, young and emerging talent and global investments. He called upon the industry to adopt best practices and build partnerships with global entities.

Apart from a display of products and solutions, various other programmes have been lined up. IMTMA provides an opportunity to Indian academic and R&D institutions to showcase their research capabilities and make it available for commercial use.

IMTMA has constituted two awards to recognise and reward companies. These are the IMTMA Best Design Award for indigenously designed product in metal cutting and the IMTMA Export Performance Award for making significant achievement in export of machine tools. The awards will be conferred during the exhibition.
