Zoomcar Partners with Wego to Offer Self-Drive Options for International Tourists in India
The collaboration enables travelers from the Middle East and North Africa to access over 25,000 rental cars across 99 Indian cities amid rising global travel costs
Zoomcar Holdings, Inc., the Nasdaq-listed marketplace for self-drive car sharing in India, announced a partnership with Wego, the leading travel app in the Middle East and North Africa, today. The agreement will integrate Zoomcar's self-drive rental options directly into Wego's platform, allowing international tourists to book vehicles throughout India.
The partnership enables Wego users to access more than 25,000 cars across 99 cities in India through both Wego's website and mobile application. Bookings will be integrated into Wego's existing travel ecosystem, which already facilitates flight and accommodation reservations.
"We're seeing a decisive shift in how people want to travel — flexibility, independence, and immersion matter more than ever," said Anirudh Lamba, Head of Partnerships at Zoomcar. "Our partnership with Wego helps us serve evolving travelers better, especially those coming from the Middle East and Southeast Asia who want to explore India on their own terms."
According to data from Wego, travel interest from Gulf Cooperation Council countries to India increased by 40% year-over-year in the first quarter of 2025. This growth is primarily driven by family travel, medical tourism, and digital nomads seeking new work locations.
Bernard Corraya, General Manager for India at Wego, stated: "We are thrilled to partner with Zoomcar to bring greater convenience and control to travelers exploring India. This collaboration supports our mission to enhance every stage of the traveler's journey from flight and stay to local mobility."
The companies believe this partnership addresses changing travel preferences influenced by economic factors including rising airfares, currency fluctuations, and international tariff tensions. These conditions have pushed travelers toward cost-conscious, high-control experiences closer to their home regions.
India's road tourism sector has seen substantial growth in recent years, supported by infrastructure improvements and the development of diverse road-trip routes throughout the country. The nation's favorable exchange rates for many international visitors have further positioned it as an attractive destination for regional travelers.
Zoomcar, founded in 2013 and headquartered in Bengaluru, operates a community-based car-sharing platform that connects vehicle owners with guests seeking affordable transportation options. Wego, established in 2005 with dual headquarters in Dubai and Singapore, provides travel search services across Asia Pacific and the Middle East regions.
