Women Driving Change: Spinny Reports Surge in Female Car Buyers
Women steer the change as Spinny reports a dramatic rise in female car buyers reshaping India's used car market.
Women are increasingly taking the driver's seat in India's automotive market, according to recent data released by Spinny, the country's leading full-stack used car platform.
The company reports that women comprised 26% of its customer base in 2024, up from 16% in 2023. Even more striking, by March 2025, that figure has nearly doubled to 46%, marking a significant shift in the used car market traditionally dominated by male buyers.
"We believe it's a woman's world, and we are celebrating this with a special discount for women buyers," said Niraj Singh, CEO and Founder of Spinny. "Over the years, women have made up an average of over 32% of our car buyers, and we remain committed to increasing this number."
Purchasing Patterns Reveal Preferences
The report highlights that 60% of women buyers prefer automatic hatchbacks, citing ease of use as a primary factor. Another 18% opt for compact SUVs. Popular models among female buyers include the Renault Kwid, Hyundai Grand i10, and Maruti Suzuki Swift.
Geographically, Delhi-NCR leads with 48% of women buyers, followed closely by Mumbai at 46%, Bengaluru at 41%, and Pune at 39%. Non-metro cities are also showing strong growth, with Lucknow and Jaipur reporting a 20% increase in women buyers.
The typical female car buyer is between 30 and 40 years old, representing a generation of young professionals investing in personal mobility.
Women's Day Celebration Offers
To commemorate Women's Day, Spinny is offering special benefits from March 7 to March 9. Women buyers can receive discounts up to ₹1,00,000, while one lucky woman seller will win ₹5,000 each day of the promotion.
These initiatives aim to not only celebrate women car owners but also empower them to make independent automotive choices, reflecting a broader societal shift toward financial independence and breaking traditional norms.
Founded in 2015, Spinny operates across the entire value chain of used cars, employing technology to deliver premium customer experiences. Each vehicle undergoes a 200-point inspection and comes with a 5-day money-back guarantee and 1-year warranty.
The company currently operates 57 car hubs across 22 Indian cities, including Delhi, Gurugram, Noida, Bangalore, Mumbai, and Pune. Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar serves as a strategic investor and lead brand ambassador.
