Volvo Trucks Secures European Heavy-Duty Market Leadership for Second Consecutive Year
Swedish manufacturer captures 19% market share in 2025, driven by fuel-efficient FH Aero model.
Volvo Trucks has maintained its position as the leading heavy-duty truck manufacturer in Europe for the second year running, according to figures released by the company on Monday.
The Swedish truck maker achieved a 19.0% market share across Europe in 2025 for vehicles weighing 16 tonnes and above, marking an increase from 17.9% in 2024. The United Kingdom, France, Poland, Germany, and Lithuania were the top markets for Volvo truck registrations during the year.
The company's FH Aero long-distance truck proved particularly popular with European hauliers, with nearly 33,000 units ordered throughout 2025. The model features improved aerodynamics and digital camera mirrors, delivering up to 7% better fuel efficiency compared to the standard FH model it replaced.
"We are very proud to be market leader in Europe for the second consecutive year," said Roger Alm, President of Volvo Trucks. "Our goal is to be our customers' best business partner and being market leader is strong proof of the confidence our customers put in us."
Globally, Volvo Trucks holds either the leading position or ranks as the second-largest brand in 30 countries as of 2025.
The manufacturer is pursuing a three-pronged technology strategy to achieve net-zero emissions by 2040, focusing on battery electric vehicles, fuel cell electric trucks, and combustion engines powered by renewable fuels including green hydrogen, biogas, biodiesel, and hydrotreated vegetable oil (HVO).
Alm emphasized the company's commitment to innovation: "By investing in multiple technologies we can offer transport solutions suitable for different customer needs and markets."
The European market figure encompasses the European Union plus the United Kingdom, Norway, and Switzerland (EU30). In 2024, Volvo Trucks delivered approximately 134,000 vehicles worldwide through its network of dealers operating 2,200 service points across roughly 130 countries.
