Tata Motors Opens Re.Wi.Re Vehicle Scrapping Facilities in Lucknow and Raipur
New centres support India's vehicle scrappage policy, with capacity to dismantle 40,000 vehicles annually and promote environmentally responsible recycling of two-, three-, and four-wheelers from all brands.
Tata Motors has announced the inauguration of two new Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facilities (RVSFs) in Lucknow and Raipur under its Re.Wi.Re – Recycle with Respect initiative. These centres were virtually inaugurated by the Union Minister of Road Transport and Highways, Shri Nitin Gadkari, and are part of the company’s efforts to support structured vehicle scrapping under the National Vehicle Scrappage Policy.
Both facilities are equipped to dismantle end-of-life vehicles across all categories and brands, including two-wheelers, three-wheelers, passenger vehicles, and commercial vehicles. The Raipur facility, operated by Raipur Green Energy Pvt. Ltd., has the capacity to dismantle up to 25,000 vehicles per year. The Lucknow facility, managed by Moto Scrapland Pvt. Ltd., can handle up to 15,000 vehicles annually.
Nitin Gadkari highlighted that such centres are aligned with the government’s focus on cleaner, fuel-efficient mobility and the safe recycling of unfit vehicles. He also noted that these centres will help recover valuable materials while making the scrapping process more accessible and efficient.
Girish Wagh, Executive Director at Tata Motors, stated that the company’s Re.Wi.Re initiative aligns with its focus on sustainable and responsible business practices. He mentioned that with these two new facilities, Tata Motors can now dismantle over 1.75 lakh vehicles annually through its nationwide network.
The company currently operates ten scrapping centres across cities including Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Surat, Chandigarh, Delhi NCR, Pune, Guwahati, Kolkata, and now Raipur and Lucknow. Each facility follows a digital and paperless system, using dedicated stations for safe removal and disposal of tyres, batteries, fluids, and other components. The facilities are designed to meet national scrappage policy norms, supporting the safe and compliant dismantling of all types of vehicles.
Tata Motors Limited, part of the USD 165 billion Tata Group, is a global automobile manufacturer with a presence in key international markets.
