Setco Auto Systems Pvt. Ltd., a subsidiary of Setco Automotive Limited, has entered into a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with Visvesvaraya National Institute of Technology (VNIT), Nagpur, to collaborate on research and innovation in automotive technology.

The partnership will focus on multiple areas, including the development of next-generation drivetrains, advancements in friction facing technology, electric mobility, and sustainable vehicle solutions. As part of the agreement, a Clutch Research Laboratory will be established in VNIT’s Mechanical Engineering Department. The facility will enable joint work on new product development, advanced testing methods, and improvements in existing clutch systems aimed at enhancing performance, durability, and product life.

The collaboration also includes provisions for student engagement. VNIT students will gain hands-on experience through live industry projects, internships, and mentorship opportunities with Setco’s R&D experts, giving them exposure to industrial practices and advanced testing facilities.

Commenting on the development, Harish Sheth, Chairman and Managing Director of Setco Automotive Limited, said the initiative combines the company’s industry experience with VNIT’s academic expertise to create a platform for innovation and talent development.
