River Mobility Wins Red Dot Product Design Award for Indie Electric Scooter
Bengaluru-based manufacturer becomes India's only two-wheeler brand to win both Red Dot concept and product design awards.
River Mobility has been awarded the Red Dot Product Design Award 2025 for its Indie electric scooter, adding to its Red Dot Design Concept Award received in 2024. The company is now the only Indian two-wheeler manufacturer to have won both awards in consecutive years.
The Indie electric scooter was recognized by the international jury for its functional design approach. The vehicle features 43 litres of under-seat storage and 12 litres in the front compartment, described as the highest capacity in its segment. Additional design elements include lock-and-load pannier stays for customizable luggage options, protective safeguards to reduce damage from falls, twin-beam headlamps, and front foot pegs.
Vipin George, Co-founder and Chief Product Officer at River Mobility, stated that the awards validate the company's rider-focused design philosophy. He described the Indie as a multi-utility vehicle designed to address practical needs of Indian riders.
The Red Dot Design Award is an internationally recognized benchmark for design excellence. River Mobility's winning scooter was selected for combining transport versatility, protective features, and practical everyday functionality.
Founded in March 2021 by Aravind Mani and Vipin George, River Mobility is based in Bengaluru and focuses on electric scooter manufacturing. The company's investors include Yamaha Motor Corporation, Mitsui & Co. Ltd, Marubeni Corporation, Al Futtaim Group, Lowercarbon Capital, Toyota Ventures, Maniv Mobility, and Trucks VC.
