River Launches 8-Year Extended Warranty for Indie Electric Scooter Battery and Motor
New warranty program covers critical EV components; upgrade option available for existing 5-year plan holders.
River, the Bengaluru-based electric two-wheeler manufacturer, has announced an 8-year / 80,000-kilometer extended warranty for the battery and motor of its flagship electric scooter, the River Indie. The program will be available from 1 October 2025 to all new bookings and existing customers, aiming to enhance long-term reliability and ownership confidence.
Customers who purchased the Indie since 1 April 2025 can opt for the extended warranty at ₹8,399 + GST. Those already enrolled in River’s 5-year extended warranty can upgrade to the new plan for ₹3,399 + GST during a limited one-month window. The warranty covers battery replacement if its State of Health (SOH) drops below 70% and motor replacement if it becomes non-functional despite repair.
“We are excited to introduce this extended warranty initiative, which underscores our strong confidence in River’s engineering and product quality,” said Sachin Patial, Service Head, River. “With this 8-year warranty covering both the battery and motor, we aim to go beyond expectations by reinforcing our promise of durable and dependable mobility solutions.”
River currently operates 32 stores across 15 cities, including Bengaluru, Mysuru, Chennai, Hyderabad, Kochi, and Visakhapatnam. Recent expansions include Pune, Vijayawada, and Trivandrum, with plans to reach all major Indian cities by 2026 through a mix of company-owned and dealership outlets.
Founded in March 2021 by Aravind Mani and Vipin George, River is backed by investors such as Yamaha Motor Corporation, Mitsui & Co. Ltd., Marubeni Corporation, Al Futtaim Group, Lowercarbon Capital, Toyota Ventures, Maniv Mobility, and Trucks VC.
