Nissan Magnite Gets CNG Retrofitment Option at ₹74,999

Nissan Motor India announced Tuesday that its Magnite compact SUV will now be available with a government-approved CNG retrofitment kit priced at ₹74,999. The kit will be installed at authorized fitment centers and comes with a three-year or one lakh kilometer warranty.

The CNG option is available exclusively for the Magnite's 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a manual gearbox. Customers can order the installation through Nissan dealerships in seven states during the first phase: Delhi-NCR, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, Maharashtra, Gujarat, Kerala and Karnataka. The company plans to expand availability to other states in a second phase.

Motozen, a third-party manufacturer, has developed and will supply the CNG kit according to regulatory standards. Government-authorized vendors will handle all installations to ensure compliance with safety regulations and local standards.

"The New Nissan Magnite has been a phenomenal product for us and has led the success story in India," said Saurabh Vatsa, Managing Director of Nissan Motor India. "We are confident that this move will enhance the popular compact SUV's value proposition and practicality."

The Magnite has established itself as a significant player in India's compact SUV segment since its launch. The vehicle features over 20 segment-first features and more than 55 safety features. Nissan has expanded the model's reach globally, with availability now spanning over 65 countries in both right-hand and left-hand drive configurations.

India's automotive market has seen growing interest in alternative fuel options as consumers seek more economical and environmentally conscious transportation solutions. CNG retrofitment has gained traction as a viable option for existing vehicle owners looking to reduce fuel costs and emissions.

The move aligns with the Indian government's push toward cleaner transportation alternatives and provides Magnite owners with an option to convert their vehicles without purchasing a new car. The retrofitment process will maintain the vehicle's existing warranty structure while adding coverage for the CNG components.
