Nissan India Appoints Gagan Mangal as Head of Communications
Gagan Mangal joins Nissan Motor India as Head of Communications, bringing 18 years of automotive industry experience from Volkswagen and Hyundai to lead brand resurgence efforts.
Nissan Motor India has appointed Gagan Mangal as its Head of Communications, effective January 12, 2026. Based in Gurugram, Mangal will oversee communications for the company and report to Katherine Zachary, Vice President of International Communications, while collaborating with Managing Director Saurabh Vatsa.
Mangal transitions to Nissan from Volkswagen India, where he led Press and Marketing Communications. With over 18 years of experience in corporate communications and marketing, he has worked with major automotive manufacturers including Volkswagen and Hyundai throughout his career.
His professional background includes developing integrated communications strategies for product launches, managing large-scale events, and overseeing brand strategy initiatives. Mangal has been responsible for building media narratives and maintaining relationships with both national and regional media outlets.
Saurabh Vatsa highlighted the timing of the appointment, noting that Mangal's automotive communications expertise and knowledge of the Indian media landscape will support the company's brand resurgence and upcoming product launches.
In his new position, Mangal will focus on strengthening Nissan's communications strategy in India, a market the company considers a priority. His responsibilities will include supporting product launches and enhancing media engagement as Nissan enters what the company describes as an exciting new phase in the country.
Katherine Zachary expressed confidence that Mangal's leadership will prove valuable as the automaker advances its plans in the Indian market.
