Mercedes-AMG Unveils CONCEPT AMG GT XX, Showcasing Future of High-Performance Electric Mobility
With over 1,360 hp, axial flux motors, and ultra-fast charging, the four-door electric coupé embodies AMG's next-gen performance vision, fusing motorsport-inspired technology with innovative design and sustainability advancements.
Mercedes-AMG has introduced the CONCEPT AMG GT XX, a technology demonstrator that previews a future four-door high-performance electric sports car built on the AMG.EA architecture. Equipped with three axial flux motors and a newly developed high-voltage battery system, the concept delivers peak output exceeding 1,000 kW (over 1,360 hp) and a top speed beyond 360 km/h.
The vehicle can gain approximately 400 km of range (WLTP) in about five minutes of charging, thanks to its direct-cooled cylindrical battery cells and 800V+ system architecture. It also features a fully variable AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive system, enabling dynamic torque distribution for optimized traction and efficiency.
Axial flux motors—developed with YASA, a UK-based subsidiary—offer three times the power density of conventional motors while being significantly lighter and more compact. Two rear motors and one front motor are managed by intelligent software to balance performance and energy efficiency, with innovations such as a disconnect unit and silicon carbide inverters.
The concept integrates several world-first technologies, including active aero-wheels that adjust for brake cooling or aerodynamic efficiency using self-powered actuators, and a new MBUX Fluid Light Panel at the rear that communicates vehicle data visually. The exterior in sunset beam orange features motorsport-inspired aerodynamics, while the interior emphasizes sustainability with biotech-derived leather and silk alternatives.
Production-intent versions of the drivetrain and battery are scheduled to enter series production in 2026, affirming Mercedes-AMG’s commitment to electric performance rooted in motorsport DNA.
